The Vexillological Association of the State of Texas (VAST) was founded on February 16, 1991 in Austin, Texas. It was incorporated on March 8, 2000 as a non-profit and non-political organization devoted to researching, preserving and publicizing the history and use of flags in Texas.

Membership is open to all interested persons. Interested persons should complete a membership application after reading the bylaws.
