The official Seal of the Vexillological Association of the State of Texas is based on a design submitted by Petr Exner of the Czech Vexillogical Club. The original design was square and the colors were blue and white. On July 17, 2000 the VAST Board of Directors modified the design to be a circle adding the words "VEXILLOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF THE STATE OF TEXAS" around the exterior circle, and changing the colors to a gold star on a blue background so that the seal recognizes the design of the first national flag of the Republic of Texas.
